SSD vs HDD which is better for you? - Knowledge World

It is not right to compare or sort these two devices based on place and price alone. It is wise to choose all aspects. The type of your computer depends on performance, power consumption, capacity and speed. And these largely depend on the devices used in your computers, such as SSD (Solid-state drives) or HDD (hard disk drives). So the advantages and disadvantages of these or which will be better will be discussed. So let's get started,

What is HDD?

The full form of HDD is Hard Disk Drives. It is basically inside the computer but there are some external HDDs available in the market now. Here the data of the computer is stored. It is a kind of mechanical drive, which consists of a rotating disk or disc-like object that rotates to store data in the computer through data read or write. The faster this disk rotates, the faster the data is read or written. HDD sprites typically range from 5400 rpm to 7200 rpm. However, the speed of the server is a little more than 1500 rpm. In terms of shape, the computer has a 3.2-inch hard disk and the laptop has a 2.5-inch hard disk. About 75 years ago today, in 1956, the IBM company first introduced us to this device.

Advantages and disadvantages of HDD:

Everything has its advantages and disadvantages. These devices also have advantages and disadvantages. In this case, the advantages of a hard disk are,

Hard disk market price is low so it can be purchased for some money. At present, the price of a 1 terabyte or 1024 GB hard drive is around 3500 rupees. It is available in many variants at the time of purchase, such as 2tv, 5tv, 10tv etc. It is easily available in any computer device market. There are also some other benefits.

Now let us know about the difficulty. The first disadvantage of a hard disk is that it has some moving parts, so it can be damaged by a very small injury and even if it falls out of the hand, it is very likely to be damaged. In that case, the information in it can be deleted. Secondly, it has to be changed every 4 to 5 years due to its short lifetime. But in 4-5 years it can be used well. And since it has moving parts or it saves data by rotating the disk, it goes without saying that there is not much spirit in it. It also needs more power because of the moving parts.

What is SSD?

SSD is Solid State Drive. The reason for this name is that it does not contain any moving parts. In the absence of moving parts, it contains NAND flash memory, a non-volatile or unforgettable flash memory. It saves data through circuits, like memory or pen drive. The SSD has a controller unit for storing data which processes the data very fast and saves the data in SSD NAND flash memory. Depending on the read and write speed, there are 3 types of SSDs on top of this controller unit: SATA, mSATA and M.2. SATA SSDs are usually in the form of a 2.5-inch hard drive. mSATA comes in the form of small boards. M.2 length on the other hand is in the form of a PCB board. The rules for a normal SATA installation are the same as for a hard drive installation. But mSATA and M.2 have separate slots on the motherboard.

Advantages and disadvantages of SSD:

SSD also has some advantages and disadvantages. Let's first discuss its benefits. The advantages are,

SSD's spirit is very good, so its performance is very satisfactory. Having a digital circuit system in it, the risk of damage is less or less if it is slightly injured or left behind. It uses a lot less power so it saves a lot of energy so your cost will be less or less. Having a digital circuit system makes life much longer.

As well as the advantages, it also has some disadvantages. One of the disadvantages is the price. It costs a little more in comparison. As it is a new technology, it is not available in all markets and its capacity is low. It comes in three sizes 256Gb, 512GB and 1tv. That's why it's so expensive.

Differences between SSD and HDD:

Although SSD and HDD work data is stored, these two devices are not one, there are many differences. The differences are discussed below;

HDD

Hard drives offer more space at a lower price which is good for storing data.

A normal hard drive can read and write 50-120 MB per second.

Having a spinning plate on the hard drive causes the CPU to experience noise, vibration and heat.

Bootup on a PC with a hard drive takes 30-40 seconds.

It takes 30% longer to open a file on a PC with a hard drive.

The more power is used, the more electricity is wasted.

Hardware is available in all markets or easily available.

SDD

Solid-state drives are more expensive but are very effective for data processors.

Solid State Drive can read and write 200-500 MB per second and can read and write 1.4 GB per second in PCI-E / M.2.

Solid-state drives have circuits so the CPU does not have to deal with noise, vibration and heat.

Bootup on a PC with a solid-state drive takes 10-13 seconds.

It takes 30% less time to open a file on a PC with a solid-state drive.

Less power is used thus saving electricity.

Hardware is not available in all markets or is rare.

Which is better for you?

It is important to choose a good brand before buying an HDD or SSD. Because a good brand product, you will get good service, warranty, no doubt. Which one you buy depends entirely on your budget. If your budget is low then buying a hard disk is good for you and if your budget is high then you can buy a solid-state drive. And if your budget is medium, you can get a hard disk as well as any one of 256 GB or 512 GB depending on your ability.
