World Wide Web source code NFT sells for $5.4 million - Knowledge World

The first Source Code of the World Wide Web is sold at a very high price. The auction of this source code, which sold for 4 5.4 million, started at just over  1,000 Markin Doller. Find out what's in this special source code.

The non-fungible token (NFT) has made headlines more than once recently. Already, Twitter founder Jack Dorsey's first tweet has sold for 2.9 million. This time, Tim Berners-Lee sold the first source code of the World Wide Web at the popular auction company Sotheby’s auction. The code has been auctioned off through the NFT for 5.4 million. It is learned that this money will be taken through cryptocurrency. Although this code, the earliest on the World Wide Web, was sold at auction at a huge price, the auction started at just 1,000 Markin Doller.
However, the person who bought this source code at auction has kept his identity secret. According to the rules of the company, the names of all the winners of the auction are kept secret. However, the winner can also reveal his identity if he wants. The auction starts at just 1,000 Markin Doller. A total of 51 bids were submitted for this NFT. In other NFT auctions, last-minute bids were submitted, but this did not happen. The highest bid was submitted 10 minutes before the end of the auction on Sotheby’s website.
This source code contains the first means of communication between the first web browser and the computer, which is still in use. These include the Hypertext Transfer Protocol, or HTTP, and the Hypertext Markup Language or HTML. This code has been available in the public domain for a long time. However, Sotheby’s code that NFT auctioned is a time-stamped file. This file contains all the source code.

Tim Berners-Lee, a British physicist, computer scientist, MIT professor, and father of the World Wide Web, has long called for greater control over people's personal information. He also started a software project to decentralize the web. "NFT is the most appropriate form of ownership that exists," Tim Berners-Lee said in a statement on Sotheby's.

These tokens are made on top of blockchain technology. Recently, this NFT has revolutionized the industrial world. Because, this sophisticated technology helps the artists to sell everything made by the hands, directly to the customer.
